Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, bioinformatics, data science or applicable engineering or science discipline. (Required)
Master's Degree Master's degree in computer science, information systems, bioinformatics, data science or applicable engineering or science discipline. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years Bachelor's degree with 3 years of diverse applicable experience in applications, software design, systems or IT operations support. (Required) Or
1 year Master's degree with 1 year of diverse applicable experience in applications, software design, systems or IT operations support. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Working knowledge of two or more programming languages.
Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements and develop alternative solutions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience designing, developing, testing and deploying applications/systems using proven or emerging technologies in a variety of environments.
Ability to adjust to constant business change, including new requirements, evolving goals and strategies and emerging technologies.
Ability to interact, develop, engineer and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with research teams, vendors, collaborators and all levels of Children's staff.
Expertise in multiple technical environments and expert knowledge of one or more business areas is required.

Functional Accountabilities
Responsible Conduct of Research

  • Consistently demonstrates adherence to the standards for the responsible conduct of research.

 

  • Plans, conducts and manages research projects within federal and institutional regulations and policies under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Uses research funds and resources appropriately.
  • Maintains confidentiality of data as required.
  • Meets all annual job-related training and compliance requirements.

Regulatory

  • Performs code review as part of QI/QA as needed.

 

  • Assists in defining DevOps and quality guidelines and standards.
  • Ensures all applications are documented according to standards.

Project Planning

  • Creates technical design specifications.

 

  • Develops/builds IT solutions to meet business requirements and integrates solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.
  • Installs and configures solutions and builds automated deployments using configuration management technology.
  • Develops, executes and documents test plans across the life cycle.
  • Designs, develops and implements reusable components
  • Validates deployments and verifies the functionality of components and services and ensures deployment meets client's expectations.
  • Deploys new modules and ensure modules are production-ready.

Application Development

  • Creates technical design specifications.

 

  • Develops/builds IT solutions to meet business requirements and integrates solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.

  • Develops, executes and documents test plans across the life cycle.
  • Designs, develops and implements reusable components.

Production Support

  • Plans and performs ongoing routine application maintenance tasks, including script maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementations.

 

  • Assists in production support.
  • Performs automated/load tests and addresses any issues as needed.
  • Documents functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results.
  • Troubleshoots existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions as needed.

Performance and Research Management

  • Evaluates new and existing applications packages and tools and provides recommendations for improving performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions and assisting in the scope of modifications.

 

  • Participates in the development of contingency plans, including reliable backup and restore procedures.
  • Provides technical guidance and system process expertise.
  • Works with vendors to resolve problems and develop solutions.
  • Assists in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
  • Directs Dev Ops Engineers and students.
  • Directs the work of junior staff and interns as needed.
